After a three-year hiatus, GWM’s subsidiary brand, Ora, has unveiled the new self-styled Ora 5. In addition to the launch, it is also being reported that the EV will be the brand’s first mass-production vehicle.
The first images of the all-electric (EV) SUV were revealed some weeks ago. Design-wise, the EV still retains the key design cues of the Ora ‘cat family’ models, starting with the Porsche-inspired circular headlights, that is paired with a large trapezoidal air intake. Meanwhile, the rear has a horizontal slim taillight placed at the side of the rear bumpers and a spoiler. Completing the look are 18-inch alloy wheels and traditional door handles.

Inside the Ora 5, the cabin is lined with textile fabric panels, offered in three distinctive colour themes: Dawn White, Noon Brown, and Midnight Grey. For connectivity, the car features a digital instrument cluster paired with a larger infotainment display running the third-generation Coffee OS. It also comes equipped with integrated Coffee GPT and DeepSeek access.
Additionally, the Ora 5 has a 1.65-square-metre panoramic roof, enhancing the cabin of the EV. Other features in the cabin include a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, wireless phone chargers, multiple storage compartments, and 64-colour ambient lighting.

At the heart of the Ora 5 is a 150 kW electric motor paired with a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery pack, though the automaker has yet to disclose full battery specifications. For comparison, the Ora Lightning Cat sedan, which uses a similar motor setup, comes in both 63.87 kWh and 83.49 kWh battery options, delivering CLTC-rated ranges of 555 km and 705 km, respectively.
At present, there are no further details on the Ora 5 EV SUV; however, GWM is expected to announce the launch of the vehicle soon. Additionally, the car is expected to debut in Malaysia as well, given Ora’s strong presence in the local market.
