Nikon, through its official distributor Futuromic, has launched the new Nikon ZR full-frame camera in Malaysia. The model, first introduced globally earlier this month, is developed in collaboration with RED Digital Cinema Inc (RED).
The ZR features a 24.5MP full-frame CMOS sensor with a partially stacked design similar to the Z6 III. Despite this, the camera supports up to 6K recording at 60fps in R3D NE, RED’s R3D RAW format that allows post-production flexibility for adjusting parameters such as ISO and white balance. For high-frame-rate needs, the ZR also records Full HD footage at up to 240fps.
Autofocus on the ZR has been enhanced with AI-based subject detection, while five-axis in-body image stabilisation provides added reliability in handheld shooting scenarios. Audio capabilities also receive an upgrade, with support for 32-bit float recording. Instead of an electronic viewfinder, Nikon has equipped the camera with a 4-inch LCD display capable of 1,000 nits peak brightness.
The compact body measures 133 × 80.5 × 48.7mm and is designed with efficient heat dissipation, enabling up to 125 minutes of continuous 6K 60fps recording in R3D NE when powered via USB. Notably, the design achieves this without requiring an internal cooling fan.

In Malaysia, the Nikon ZR is priced at RM9,688 for the body only. Bundled options are available, with the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S kit priced at RM12,408, and the NIKKOR Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 kit at RM13,318. Pre-orders are now open through Nikon’s authorised dealers nationwide.
