The server infrastructure supporting the Budi Madani RON95 (BUDI95) petrol subsidy scheme has been significantly upgraded and is capable of handling up to 30,000 transactions per minute, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced today. Speaking at the Finance Ministry’s monthly assembly, he said the enhanced system capacity is designed to prevent disruptions like those that occurred during the rollout of the earlier Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid programme.
He explained that while SARA’s servers were originally designed for a smaller group and could only process around 3,000 transactions per minute. Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, assured that the new system is “ten times stronger”, ensuring smoother operations for the much larger pool of recipients.

“The aim is to avoid the issues we faced during the initial rollout of SARA,” he said. “The BUDI95 system has a much larger server capacity, capable of processing over 30,000 transactions per minute.”
The Prime Minister also addressed concerns that the requirement to use a MyKad when purchasing petrol under the programme might inconvenience the public. He dismissed the criticism, stating that the initiative was specifically designed to benefit the majority of Malaysians by keeping RON95 prices among the lowest in the region.

To recap, all Malaysian citizens with a valid driving licence are eligible for the subsidy. According to data from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and the National Registration Department (JPN), more than 16 million people are expected to qualify for the programme.
