Apart from having a valid and fully functional MyKad, another requirement for road users to enjoy the upcoming BUDI95 subsidy rollout is a driving licence. Fortunately, you won’t need to present it when purchasing fuel, but you must ensure that your licence meets the necessary criteria.
For instance, those with an expired driving licence of less than three years are still eligible for BUDI95, but only after renewing it. This is because the expiry still falls within the renewal eligibility period, whereas exceeding three years would require retaking driving tests and applying for a new licence altogether.

To ease the renewal process, JPJ is offering several options in preparation for the expected rush ahead of the BUDI95 rollout. For those preferring an in-person approach, the department will extend operating hours for renewal counters starting this Saturday, 27 September. Driving licence and related services will be available from 8.30am to 4.30pm on weekends until 26 October.
Alternatively, renewals can also be done online through the department’s MyJPJ app. Users can renew their licence for a minimum of one year and up to a maximum of 10 years, with costs varying depending on the duration chosen.
To get started, log in to the MyJPJ app either by entering your MyKad number and account password or by using MyDigital ID. New users will need to create an account first. After logging in, head to the “Main” page, open the “Profile” tab, select the licence to be renewed, and then tap the “Renewal” button. The updated licence will then appear under the Profile page in the app.
What about those with learners (L) and provisional (P) licences? According to the BUDI95 official FAQ, holders of Learner’s Driving Licence (LDL) for classes A, B, B1, B2 and C, as well as Provisional Driving Licence (PDL) for classes A, A1, B, B1, B2, C, D and DA, are eligible too.

Lastly, don’t forget you can check your full eligibility for the BUDI95 subsidy via its official website. Simply enter your MyKad number on the portal – no registration is required.
