NVIDIA and YTL have partnered to set up of the former’s DGX Cloud AI platform in Johor. This is noted as the only location in the Asia-Pacific region, and one of only five global cloud partners. State Menteri besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi says this is a “historic vote of confidence” for Johor.
In a Facebook post, the minister says that the partnership between YTL Power and NVIDIA, worth RM20.6 billion, was first announced in Kulai last year. And it has laid the foundation for the development of “the most advanced AI infrastructure in Malaysia”.

The minister added that it has produced the country’s first large language model (LLM), creating thousands of tech jobs in the process. It also establishes the state as an ASEAN AI Centre of Excellence, demonstrating the capability for Johor to lead regional tech advancement with a clear vision and sustainable strategy.
Finally, the minister expresses optimism that the partnership will be further strengthened through the development of multilingual AI models and the creation of of AI talent pipelines. It is also expected to propel Johor to being ASEAN’s leading digital and AI hub, with the establishing of joint testbeds within the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone.
