GWM has once again previewed the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) Wey G9 after announcing its upcoming debut in the local market. The MPV, which has been renamed from Wey 80 to Wey 9, was previewed before at PACE in July this year. However, this time around, more details about the car have been revealed.
As reported previously, the exterior design of the car includes a bold grille, LED headlights at the front and rear, and chrome detailing. Inside, the car has been updated with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch infotainment system.
Furthermore, the seven-seater MPV comes with Nappa leather seats and zero-gravity seats for the second row. The cabin also features a refrigerator with three modes, including cooling (0–15°C), heating (35–50°C) and fresh-keeping (10°C). Other features in the cabin include ventilated and massage seats, as well as 12.5 litres of storage.
In terms of performance, the Wey G9 features a PHEV powertrain combining a 1.5T inline four-cylinder engine and dual permanent-magnet synchronous motors. The MPV has a four-wheel-drive setup, producing an output of 442 PS and 642 Nm of torque. All of this power is managed by a four-speed DHT transmission. The MPV completes the century sprint in 5.7 seconds before reaching a top speed of 200 km/h.

The dual-motor setup is powered by a 44.2 kWh battery that offers an electric NEDC driving range of 170 km. When combined with the engine, the GWM MPV is claimed to offer a NEDC driving range of up to 1,000 km. In terms of charging, the Wey G9 can replenish itself from 30% to 80% in 26 minutes using a DC charger. Meanwhile, with a 6.6 kW AC charger, it takes 6.5 hours to charge from 15% to 100%.
In terms of safety, the GWM Wey G9 has quadruple battery safety protection. This is claimed to protect the battery from extreme conditions such as rain, heat and shocks. Additionally, the MPV has large side curtain airbags for all three rows.

For now, this is all the information provided by the automaker. As for the price, it will be unveiled during the launch of the vehicle, which will be happening soon.
