When Apple announced the iPhone 17 series, alongside the iPhone Air, the bitten fruit brand gave the phones an availability date of 19 September. With Malaysia now having our own official Apple store, we are also among those getting the device as soon as they are available. Those who placed their pre-orders beforehand were able to collect their new phones as early as 8AM earlier today.
To quickly go through what the new phones offer, all iPhone 17 variants, plus the Air come with a square sensor for the front-facing camera. This is paired with the Centre Stage feature previously exclusive to iPads for smart centring of everyone involved when taking a selfie. The square image sensor itself is also used to provide more stable videos when recording using the front camera.
All four phones also now come with the brand’s ProMotion display, and its variable refresh rate of between 1Hz and 120Hz. In a sense, they all also have the A19 chip, with the base model iPhone 17 using the base model chip, and the rest getting the Pro variant.
The cases for these iPhones are also now available, including the crossbody strap for the Air. Only the three new Apple Watch variants, as well as the AirPods Pro 3, are not yet available today/
