New details about vivo’s upcoming X300 Ultra’s camera array have leaked online, courtesy of Digital Chat Station on Weibo. It is alleged that the device will be the first handset to have two 200MP sensors; one for the main shooter and the other will be for the periscope.
The leakster claimed that both of these sensors came from Sony, lending more credence to recent rumours of brands already incorporating the Japanese tech giant’s latest sensors to their upcoming devices. Going back to the vivo X300 Ultra, its main camera will reportedly be running on the IMX09E while its periscope will have the IMX09A. It remains to be seen how precisely these two differ from one another.
Digital Chat Station has only covered the IMX09E as of this writing. According to the reports, the sensor will be a 22nm 1/1.12″ 0.7µm, and support the “Hybrid Frame HDR (sic)” function. Sony claims that the Hybrid Frame-HDR (HF-HDR) combines Voltage Scaling (VS) and Dual Conversion Gain (DCG) to produce “even higher quality imaging”.
As per Sony, the IMX09E will have improved full-well capacity, higher sensitivity, and over 100dB of dynamic range. It will also have 2×2 OCL (or “on-chip lens”), which enhances autofocus performance, and 2x and 4x in-sensor lossless zoom.
On the other hand, the vivo X300’s periscope will allegedly feature a new glass-plastic assembly, though no further details about it were shared. Despite all these, the upcoming vivo smartphone will reportedly have a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 50MP selfie module.
It is worth noting that these are leaks and that nothing is concrete yet until the device’s official specs are shared. The reason why we are mentioning this is that other reports and leaks claim that the vivo X300 Ultra camera will use a Samsung HPB sensor for the main camera. It is further claimed that the Sony sensor will instead be relegated to the device’s front-facing camera.
