Even though Apple’s “Awe Dropping” event is just one day, leaks for the iPhone 17 series are still coming in. The leaks reported that most Apple devices in the series will have varying battery capacities depending on if the smartphone is an eSIM-only variant or not.
ShrimpApplePro, a well-known Apple tipster, shared an image on X that showcased the alleged battery capacity of the entire smartphone series. The leakster claims that the data was taken from “Chinese regulatory”.
According to the data, the iPhone 17 is equipped with a 3,692mAh battery, the iPhone 17 Pro will have a 3,988mAh, and the 17 Pro Max will have a 4,832mAh. Naturally being the ultra-slim variant, the iPhone 17 Air will have the smallest among the series of 3,036mAh battery—but this conflicts with prior leaks stating the device will have a 2,800mAh battery.
However, what is most interesting is that the battery capacity across all the aforementioned devices will receive a bump in numbers if users opt for the eSIM-only variants—barring the base iPhone 17. The iPhone 17 Air, Pro, and Pro Max will allegedly have 3,149 mAh, 4,252 mAh, and 5,088 mAh, respectively. The reason for this bigger capacity may be because the battery is maximising the vacant space left by the SIM tray but that is just conjecture.

Yet the leak does not end there, as 9to5Mac reported on another X post that allegedly revealed details exclusively for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. According to the publication, the leak came from a South Korean carrier on X and it reported that Apple’s premier device will reportedly have an improved telephoto camera that can go up to 8x zoom, a new vapour chamber, and 8K video recording support.
Unfortunately, the original X post was taken down. Luckily, Notebookcheck managed to save the image and also reported that Pro variants will be fashioned with an A19 pro chipset. For context, according to Notebookcheck’s prior report, the A19 pro chipset is allegedly a 3nm process that will be powering the Pro variants of the phone series. The publication further claimed that the iPhone 17 and 17 Air will receive the base A19 chipset.

Naturally, all this conflicting information can be quite confusing and it’s worth noting that these are still, at the end of the day, just leaks. Fortunately, at the literal end of this day, we can expect some concrete answers from Apple itself at its own event that is happening soon.
