Volkswagen has revealed the new second-generation T-Roc and pre-sales for the SUV kicked off on 28 August 2025 in Germany. The price of the car is slated at EUR30,845 (~RM152,285).
According to the automaker, although the T-Roc has been built from scratch, it still retains its characteristic coupé-like rear end. Positioned between the T-Cross and Tiguan, the new model measures 4,373 mm in length (+122 mm over the first generation), 1,828 mm in width (+9 mm), and 1,562 mm in height (+9 mm), with a 2,631 mm wheelbase (+28 mm). The increase in dimensions translates to improved rear legroom and a larger 475-litre boot (+30 litres).
In terms of design, the front fascia features a full-width light bar for the daytime running lights, paired with sharp, aggressive LED headlights. Buyers can also opt for the IQ.LIGHT LED Matrix system and an illuminated VW logo. The wide grille further enhances the SUV’s bold and commanding stance. At the rear, the car sports a full-length LED light strip, which, in higher trims, is illuminated at the centre and complemented by a striking red VW logo.
Interior-wise, the cabin of the T-Roc is upholstered with new fabric and filled with soft surfaces. It also comes with a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.4-inch infotainment system, which is upgraded to 12.9 inches in the top-range version of the SUV. It is integrated with ChatGPT, which can be used for navigation or even finding a restaurant nearby. Furthermore, the T-Roc has an optional windscreen head-up display.
As for performance, the new T-Roc will be offered with advanced hybrid turbocharged petrol engines for the European market. It has two options of 48V mild-hybrid (1.5 eTSI) delivering 85 kW (116 PS) and 110 kW (150 PS). According to the automaker, the line-up will later be joined by two all-new full-hybrid systems, both paired with front-wheel drive.
As with its predecessor, the 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system will return at a later stage, available with the 2.0-litre TSI engine, which itself will also be offered as a mild-hybrid (mHEV). Sitting at the top of the range, a high-performance T-Roc R will also be introduced. All 1.5- and 2.0-litre mild-hybrids come standard with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Like the latest Tiguan and Tayron, the T-Roc is built on the MQB evo platform, which brings a host of modern driver-assistance features. Travel Assist now supports automatic lane changes and adapts to speed limits, while Park Assist Pro includes a memory function that allows fully automatic parking over distances of up to 50 metres, with the option to control parking via smartphone. An exit warning system is also available, alerting occupants of approaching vehicles or cyclists before opening the doors.
As of now, the T-Roc is being offered in Europe only. There is no information on the car being offered in other countries, including Malaysia. However, if it does debut in Malaysia, it seems like it will be a great addition to the SUV segment in the local market.
