Suzuki Motors Malaysia’s new distributor Naza Eastern Motors Sdn Bhd confirms the arrival of the Suzuki Fronx for the Malaysian market. This was revealed during the launch of the Swift Sport Final Edition. Furthermore, Suzuki’s first EV, the eVitara, is also in the line-up.

The Fronx has already made its debut in Indonesia during the recent Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). There, the model has three variants – GL, GX and SGX – in which only the latter two are equipped with mild-hybrid technology.

In terms of design, the front comes with a rectangular-shaped light that combines the LED DRL, position lamp and turning lamp. The headlights are fitted below the DRLs. The same treatment is given to the tail lights, where they combine the brake lamp and turn lamp. However, the SGX gets LED tail lamps. The highest trim also features a front and rear underbody spoiler.

Interior-wise, the SUV comes with a nine-inch infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has a head-up display (HUD) for the SGX variant. Other than that, the SUV comes with leather upholstery only for the SGX model, while the other two variants are fitted with fabric seats. Additional features include a USB port, 12V socket and wireless charging for the SGX model.

Performance-wise, the mild-hybrid pairs a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine (101 PS, 135 Nm) with a 12-volt lithium-ion battery and an integrated starter generator (ISG). There’s a choice of either a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The entry-level GL variant, on the other hand, is a non-mild hybrid equipped with a slightly more powerful engine producing 105 PS and 138 Nm. It is offered with either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic gearbox.

As for the eVitara, it is still under production and has yet to be launched. It comes with three powertrain choices, including a single-motor FWD setup producing 144 PS and 189 Nm paired with a 49 kWh battery. The second option is a single-motor FWD with 174 PS and 189 Nm paired with a 61 kWh battery, while the final choice is an AWD system that produces 184 PS and 300 Nm, coupled with a 61 kWh battery.

The debut date of the Fronx has yet to be revealed, although it was stated that it will take place in Q4 2025, while the eVitara is slated for 2026. At the moment, in Indonesia, the SUV has a starting price of Rp 259,000,000 (RM 66,927).
