The upcoming BMW iX3 Neue Klasse has been spotted on the streets of China, conducting road tests with a German number plate. This came to light when a Car News China reader, sent spy shots of the SUV to the media outlet.
From the images provided, the iX3 appears fully camouflaged, although some design cues are still noticeable. The SUV seems to feature a lower beltline compared to the model previously reported. It also sports wide headlights, slender tail-lights, a rear spoiler, and a five-spoke wheel design.

To recap, the new iX3 is powered by BMW’s latest 6th-generation eDrive (Gen6) technology, incorporating newly developed cylindrical battery cells that deliver 20% greater energy density. This enables the SUV to achieve a range of up to 800 km on a single charge. Built on an advanced 800V architecture, it also supports 400 kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to regain more than 350 km of range in just 10 minutes.
The car will additionally feature BMW’s new “Heart of Joy” computing platform, paired with Dynamic Performance Control software, to enhance responsiveness and driving dynamics. With processing speeds 10 times faster than before, it offers improved handling precision, smoother regenerative braking down to a complete stop, and seamless coordination between steering, braking, and power delivery.

On the driver assistance front, the advanced “Superbrain of Automated Driving” combines rule-based logic with AI to enable features such as automated lane changes, urban driving support, and cooperative braking. Parking is further simplified with upgraded AI-powered assistance and intelligent obstacle avoidance.
The BMW iX3 Neue Klasse is expected to make its debut at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich. From the spy shots, it also appears that China could be the first Asian market to launch the new model.
