Powering the newly launched Pixel 10 series is the Tensor G5 chipset, Google’s latest in-house silicon. Apart from being over enthusiastically celebrated (probably exclusively) by Made by Google host Jimmy Fallon last night, not much has been revealed about the first-party chip apart from promises of better performance. Thankfully, the company has followed up on this via its official blog.
For starters, the Tensor G5 is built in collaboration with Google DeepMind and fabricated by TSMC using an advanced 3nm process. Google adds that, by shifting manufacturing to the 3nm node, the chip benefits from higher transistor density and improved power efficiency, which directly contributes to better battery life on the Pixel 10 lineup.

The Tensor G5 offers a 34% faster CPU and up to 60% more powerful AI processing compared to its predecessor, enabling generative AI workloads to run directly on the new Pixel phones. Despite the performance gains, Google insists that the chip is tailored specifically to its AI-first vision rather than chasing benchmark scores.
Speaking of AI, built in is the company’s lightweight Gemini Nano model, which is said to run 2.6 times faster and twice as efficiently on the new hardware. It allows for features like contextual assistance, smarter photo processing, and real-time language translation without relying on cloud connectivity. Another highlight is the Tensor G5’s ability to handle much larger context windows. While the previous generation supported up to 12,000 tokens, the new chip extends that to 32,000, allowing AI-driven applications to handle more information at once and give smarter responses.
Security-wise, the Tensor G5 works alongside the Pixel 10 series’ Titan M2 chip while introducing new on-die safeguards, including support for C2PA content credentials. This ensures that when AI tools like image enhancement or generative editing are used, the device can securely attach metadata indicating how the content was created, offering greater transparency and authenticity.

To recap, Tensor G5 chip is featured on Google’s new flagship Pixel smartphone line-up which debuted last night. These include the Pixel 10, the Pixel 10 Pro, Pro XL and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, which are available for pre-order now in Malaysia. Pricing starts from RM3,999 for the base model, from RM4,999 for the Pro, from RM5,999 for the XL, and from RM7,999 for the Pro Fold.
