It seems Google is continuing to dabble in AI-powered tools. The company’s newest offering is a feature called Flight Deals. It exists within Google Flights, and serves to help travellers seek out suitable flights at cheaper prices.
In a blog post announcing the tool, Google claims that Flight Deals is meant for flexible travellers who mainly want to save money on their next trip. Of course, the emphasis here is on “flexible”, as the example searches in the post do not mention specific locations.

Much like any other AI-powered feature, Flight Deals uses a chatbot-like interface. Rather than manually selecting dates and destinations, travellers can simply describe their travel plans. As the company puts it, using the feature is like “talking to a friend”.
Flight Deals relies on AI to understand the user’s request and seek out destinations that match the criteria. Then, it will tap into real-time Google Flights data to show up-to-date flights from different airlines and booking operators.
At the moment, Google is only rolling out the feature to users in a handful of countries, namely the US, Canada, and India. While Malaysia is not among these regions, a more refined version of the tool may arrive here at some point in the future. Currently, Flight Deals is in beta as the company gathers user feedback and explores the use of AI in travel planning.
