The Xpeng X9 is currently available as a pure battery vehicle (BEV). However, through recent Chinese MIT filings, it has been revealed that Xpeng is adding an Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) model to the line-up. This model is expected to debut in China in Q4 2025.

In terms of design, there is not much information yet, except for the declaration images that were submitted to the Chinese MIT. From what is shown, it can be seen that many of the current X9 MPV design elements are applied to the EREV variant.

The X9 EREV features the same front fascia design as the BEV, highlighted by full-width LED daytime running lights and trapezoid-shaped headlights. At the rear, a sleek full-width LED light bar serves as the taillights. As a seven-seater, it measures 5,316 mm in length, 1,988 mm in width, and 1,785 mm in height.

In terms of the interior, there is no information about it yet. However, since the exterior is almost the same as the BEV, we can expect the same treatment for the interior as well, which means we can expect the zero-gravity reclining seats, massage functions, an electric refrigerator, and heated and ventilated seats. We can also expect the 17.3-inch instrument cluster and 21.4-inch screen for infotainment.

Under the bonnet, the MPV will be equipped with the Kunpeng Super Range Extender system, combining a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 110 kW (148 hp) with LFP batteries supplied by CALB-Tech. While the exact battery capacity and full performance specifications have yet to be disclosed, the “450” badge seen on test units strongly hints at a pure electric range of approximately 450 km before the petrol generator engages.

Additionally, Xpeng claimed that more than 1,000 test vehicles have accumulated more than 20 million km of test mileage across 20 countries and 300 cities in 800 days. In that case, we can also expect the X9 EREV to make its debut in Malaysia.
