Tired of running into potholes during your daily drive? The good news is that the works ministry has said that reports of potholes via the MyJalan app must be fixed within 24 hours. This is also noted to be part of a new nationwide standard operating procedure.
The claim was made by deputy works minister Ahmad Maslan in the Dewan Rakyat. “If there’s a pothole on a federal road, it must be filled within 24 hours. That’s our SOP. We want roads used by the public to be safe and well-maintained”, he said. The deputy minister also added that the same time applies to all roads, regardless of whether it’s under federal or state jurisdiction.

He added that other issues reported via the app will have a maximum response time of 15 working days. This includes damaged signboards, street and traffic lights, as well as landslides and other road obstructions. For this, Ahmad said the MyJalan app has been upgraded to allow users to report damages without being on location.
Over 53,000 users have downloaded the MyJalan app via the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Huawei AppGallery, the minister claims. You probably should too if you want to see if the 24-hour turnaround claim holds water.
