Another day, another scam attempt. This time, it’s a ploy targeting Facebook users with the promise of a “good deal” on a G-SHOCK GPR-B1000 Rangeman for only RM179 – a price far below its actual retail value. Unsurprisingly, the offer is too good to be true.
Masquerading as local media outlet Siakap Keli, a fake Facebook account is falsely claiming that Casio has shut down several outlets in Malaysia due to “increased costs” and is selling off the G-SHOCK GPR-B1000 at a heavily discounted rate to “re-stabilise the market.” Needless to say, this claim is entirely fabricated and no such event has ever occurred.

As expected, the hyperlink in the post leads to a fraudulent Casio website designed to steal sensitive user information. For reference, Casio Malaysia’s legitimate website is casio.com/my, and the official G-SHOCK site is gshock.casio.com/my. That said, always double-check URLs before clicking, especially if shared by unfamiliar or suspicious sources.
We’ve notified Casio Malaysia about the scam, while Siakap Keli has also been alerted. Readers are advised to report the fake post if it appears on their feed and to caution others who may be less vigilant. While some may immediately recognise such posts as suspicious, others might not realise the deception until it’s too late.
