Google has announced that it is adding new photo-to-video capabilities to Gemini, allowing users to turn photos into eight-second clips with audio included. The feature is powered by the company’s latest video generation model, Veo 3.
Users can access this feature by selecting the “Videos” option from the tool menu located in the prompt box. From there, they can upload an image and describe the desired scene along with any audio instructions. The tool can be used to animate everyday objects or artworks, as well as add movement to nature scenes.
The resulting videos are delivered in MP4 format at 720p resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. The generated videos also include a visible watermark to indicate that they have been created using AI. In addition to this, they get an invisible SynthID digital watermark. Google asserts that it takes extensive measures to ensure video generation is an appropriate experience for users.
According to the company, the feature is currently being rolled out to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in select countries. However, at the moment it is unclear if Malaysia is included in this rollout. A similar photo-to-video feature is available in Flow, Google’s AI filmmaking tool, which was launched back in May.
