Elon Musk has announced that Grok, the same chatbot integrated on X that’s developed by his xAI company, is coming to Tesla vehicles. This was announced by the billionaire on his social media platform, stating that the chatbot will be arriving in the vehicles by next week.
Musk made the announcement (through a post reply, of all things) just hours after xAI unveiled its latest flagship AI model, Grok 4. During the livestream that came before, Musk discussed the new innovation and how much the chatbot has evolved since its debut back in 2023.
As of now, the AI tools available in Tesla vehicles include Autopilot, Full Self-Driving (FSD), and an AI-powered chatbot known as Tesla Assist. However, Elon Musk has not specified which Tesla models will receive the chatbot or how it will be integrated into the vehicle’s system. And will also be available to local Tesla EVs? Hopefully, these questions will be answered next week.
For those unfamiliar with Grok, it is a chatbot inspired by the character Marvin from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. According to xAI, it is designed to answer almost any question and tackle more complex challenges. If these claims hold true, Grok could prove to be more powerful than the widely known ChatGPT. However, it has received some flak as of late.
As you may recall, Grok became a subject of controversy due to its recent responses being a tad bit too “spicy” for comfort. For those unfamiliar, you can ask the chatbot to elaborate and answer certain questions at anytime in posts or threads in X by simply tagging it. However, due to its recent antics, the Elon Musk-owned social media platform has temporarily taken it down until further notice.
