MG Motor Malaysia debuts the rear-wheel drive (RWD) Cyberster variant. This will sit next to the all-wheel drive (AWD) variant of the MG convertible, which was launched last December with an MSRP (before registration fees, without insurance) price tag of RM319,900.
So, what does the RWD variant offer? In terms of exterior design, there aren’t many changes. It retains the sleek, low-slung silhouette with a distinctive Kammback tail design and arrow-shaped LED tail lamps. It also has 19-inch alloy wheels compared to the 20-inch wheels on the AWD variant.
The same goes for the interior, which continues to feature Alcantara inserts and leather seats. You’ll also find the familiar tri-wraparound screen setup, comprising a 10.25-inch digital driver display, dual 7-inch auxiliary screens, and a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen.
The roadster is available in four exterior colours: Dynamic Red, Camden Grey, Inca Yellow, and English White. Inside, the MG Cyberster pairs black and red interiors with Dynamic Red and Camden Grey exteriors, while Inca Yellow and English White are matched with grey interiors. A red soft top is also offered as an upgrade for RM2,000 over the standard black roof.
As for the powertrain, it features a single motor sending 340 PS and 475 Nm of torque to the rear wheels. It completes the century sprint in just 5 seconds – 1.8 seconds slower than the AWD variant. It also features a 77 kWh battery that provides a WLTP range of 508 km – 62 km more than its AWD sibling. With fast DC charging, it can replenish from 10% to 80% in 38 minutes.
Now coming to the main point, the price. The MG Cyberster RWD is RM20,000 cheaper with an MSRP price tag of RM299,900. At this price, it comes with a warranty and buyers’ package that includes:

• 8-year or 180,000 km Mileage High-Voltage Battery Pack
• 8-year or 160,000 km Mileage Drive Motor and Motor Control Unit
• 1-year Unlimited Charging with JomCharge and AutoCharge Function

Furthermore, the MG Cyberster is available for public viewing at the MG Motor Malaysia “Dare to Love” Roadshow, which is happening at 1 Utama Shopping Centre. The event runs from 9 to 13 July, from 10 am to 10 pm.
