Hugo Boss Has 3D-Printed Loafers In Partnership With Zellerfeld

Naturally, it needs a foot scan to provide an exact fit.

The number of things that can be 3D-printed is seemingly only limited by a person’s imagination, though most of us probably wouldn’t have thought of this. Major fashion brand Hugo Boss, in partnership with Zellerfeld, has unveiled 3D-printed loafers, which is apparently something the latter company specialises in.

Because of the way it is made, the 3D-printed shoe comes in a single piece, with no stitching or glue involved. In turn, it’s not something you can just pop into the shops and buy. Instead, every pair is made on-demand, with the process starting with the 3D scanning of a customer’s feet for a custom fit.

Despite Hugo Boss being the bigger name in this partnership, Tom’s Hardware reports that Zellerfeld is the one that’s actually making the shoes, out of Hamburg, Germany. They are noted to be available in five colours – black, beige, red, blue and orange. While it’s noted to be made of recycled materials, what it is exactly was not stated, but the outlet speculates that it is a recyclable TPU material which the brand calls zellerFOAM.

On that note though, the Hugo Boss-branded 3D-printed shoe is not yet listed on the Zellerfeld website, at least at the time of writing. The former brand exists as a tag, or an available collection, but with noting inside of it. For what it’s worth, the site has “Free Worldwide Shipping” always at the top, but without the listing itself there is also consequently no price yet.
