Honda Malaysia has announced that the 2025 facelifted Honda HR-V is now open for booking, with the official launch expected soon. This sets the stage for stiff competition between Honda and Proton, as the national carmaker also unveiled the facelifted Proton X50 today.

However, let’s take a look at the changes made to the HR-V. In truth, not much has been altered, as much of the third-generation RV has been retained. That said, the new HR-V now features a wider front grille and a reprofiled front bumper, along with a sleeker LED tail light design. The wheels, specifically on the RS variant, have also been refreshed — the 18-inch units now sport a machined two-tone finish, replacing the previous all-grey look.

Inside, the previously seen “wraparound” centre console has been replaced by a more conventional symmetrical unit, which includes an additional storage compartment beneath the air-conditioning controls. The eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system has also been updated and now supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

In terms of powertrain, the new HR-V is still being offered in three options – NA, Turbo and Hybrid. As for the Hybrid, the only changes that have been made are a tweak in the system to offer a more enhanced engine sound and to be more responsive in use. Other than that, it still features the 1.5L e:HEV powertrain with an output of 131 PS and 253 Nm.

As for the other powertrain options, they still have the same outputs. The naturally aspirated 1.5-litre engine continues to offer 121 PS and 145 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo mill is still rated at 181 PS and 240 Nm, and both NA and Turbo units are paired with a CVT.

Furthermore, the new Honda HR-V also comes with the same safety features as its predecessor. As mentioned above, registration for the HR-V is open. Customers can book the car through their HondaTouch application or click here.
