The HONOR Magic V5 is set to be unveiled in China early next month, and the company has shared a series of images revealing the phone’s design ahead of the launch. Of course, it’s immediately clear that HONOR is looking to reclaim the world’s thinnest foldable phone title with the Magic V3’s successor.
The official images depict the phone in folded and unfolded states, giving the viewer an idea of its thinness. Additionally, the brand has confirmed that the book-style foldable will measure 8.8mm when folded, which is the same as its flagship non-foldable, the Magic7 Pro. And more to the point, it is 0.1mm thinner than the current thinnest foldable, the OPPO Find N5.
Thinness aside, the Magic V5 will also come in a shiny gold colour. Other notable design elements include a textured back panel and hinge, as well as a huge camera island with three sensors, which will probably be a main, a telephoto, and an ultra-wide like its predecessor. That said though, it is rumoured that the telephoto might get a 200MP upgrade.
As for the rest of the device’s specifications, it is speculated that it will get an 8-inch main display and a 6.45-inch cover screen. Under the hood, the Magic V5 is expected to be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Leading Version SoC, and a 6,100 mAh battery with support for 66W charging.
The flagship foldable will be launched on 2 July 2025 for the Chinese market, with no word on a global release as of yet. However, assuming the company will follow the Magic V3’s launch timeline, we might see the Magic V5 hit the local shelves a couple of months after the China launch.
Update: HONOR has announced that it will be releasing the foldable for the local market “very soon”, although it did not provide an exact launch date. In the meantime, the brand is offering selected individuals the opportunity to try out the phone through its HONOR Magic V5 Beta Experiencer Program.
The programme begins today, and those interested can register for it through the company’s official website. HONOR personnel will contact the shortlisted participants who meet the requirements. Additionally, those enlisted in the programme will be in the running to win the phone.
