Today at the My BMW World event, the German automaker has launched the all-new 7th generation M5 (G90). This performance sedan features a plug-in hybrid electric powertrain (PHEV) and comes with a hefty price tag of RM1,188,800.
The BMW M5 G90, other than for its performance, is also known for its aggressive look, and the new G90 carries the legacy with Adaptive LED headlights which come along with M Lights Shadowline. The kidney grille of the car has been given a black finish and gets a luminous lighting around it through the BMW Iconic Glow exterior package.
As for the rear, it features a sleek Gurney lip spoiler and sharp LED taillights that spans horizontally for a wide and sleek appearance. Other features include the black, two-piece diffuser with hallmark M twin tailpipes. Completing the exterior are the BMW Staggered Wheels with 21 inches at the rear and 20 inches at the front.
Inside, the cabin of the M5 features a driver oriented curved display powered by BMW Live Cockpit. The display comes with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch central infotainment system. It also comes with a redesigned steering wheel featuring a flat bottom and M shift paddles.
Furthermore, the interior is covered in two-tone Merino leather upholstery, paired with carbon fibre trim inlaid with high-gloss silver threads. Additionally, the interior also has the M seat belts and an Alcantara anthracite headliner. The cockpit’s ambience is augmented by the BMW Interaction Bar and ambient lighting, which, respond dynamically to the activated drive mode that includes; Road, Sport and Track. The Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system, featuring 18 loudspeakers, completes the interior.
Now, coming to the highlight of the car; its powertrain is a combination of the M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine producing 430kW (585hp), and the fifth-generation BMW eDrive electric motor producing 145kW (197hp). Together, the M5 produces 575kW (727hp) and 1000Nm of torque, which allows the car to complete the century sprint in 3.5 seconds and reach 200km/h in 10.9 seconds.
The electric motor is powered by an 18.6kWh lithium-ion battery with a WLTP range of 69km. Its battery supports AC charging up to 11kW, enabling a full recharge in just over three hours.
The BMW M5 G90 Hybrid will be available for the public’s view starting tomorrow at the My BMW World event at Sentul Depot from 13 to 15 June 2025. Alongside the M5, the new M4 Competition M xDrive and the new BMW M2 were also launched, with price tags of RM878,800 and RM650,800 respectively.
