The Samsung tri-folding device, which may be known as the Galaxy G Fold, has been rumoured to be an exclusive to China and South Korea, much like the Z Fold Special Edition. So it’s probably not too surprising that it has appeared in the former’s 3C certification database. Unfortunately, the listing shows that the company will be continuing its trend of avoiding fast charging tech.
First spotted by The Tech Outlook, the tri-fold is registered in the database with the SM-9680, with the 0 denoting a model for the Chinese market. Also listed are 9V and 2.77A, which would translate to about 25W. This would be consistent with the charging rate of nearly every other Samsung device, with a few S Ultra models being the only exceptions in recent times.
In addition to the possible charging rate, the listing also notes that the device will not be sold with its power adapter. This is also unfortunate but unsurprising as the company has done so for its flagships for awhile, and has recently also done the same for its mid-range Galaxy A models.
While the tri-fold has been rumoured to be launching this year, there’s no consensus as to when exactly. Prior claims point to a launch alongside the now conventional Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Flip7, but more recent rumours point to an October launch instead.
