Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd has announced that it will officially retire its legacy GO mobile banking app and www.bankislam.biz banking platform, effective 28 June 2025. The decision comes ahead of the original decommissioning date of 28 November 2025, following strong adoption of its new digital banking platforms.

According to Bernama, the bank revealed that more than 90% of its existing user base has successfully transitioned to the newly launched BIMB mobile app and web platform since their debut in November 2024. It added that this overwhelming adoption has fast-tracked the initial decommissioning deadline by six months.

To ensure uninterrupted access to digital banking services, customers who have yet to make the switch are encouraged to begin using the updated platforms immediately. Bank Islam highlighted that the enhanced solutions offer a range of improvements, including an intuitive interface, biometric login, secure transaction authentication, and expanded functionality.

The upgraded BIMB Mobile app replaces the previous Bank Islam GO app, introducing a redesigned interface that significantly improves navigation—resolving a common issue raised by users. This streamlined layout is also present on the bank’s new website.

Through the app, users can directly manage their accounts, savings, cards, and loans, in addition to making zakat contributions and performing other transactions. Bank Islam has also integrated DuitNow into BIMB Mobile, enabling users to send and receive payments via the platform. Crucially, both the new app and website come with enhanced security measures, including biometric authentication, a Kill Switch feature, and other modern protections.
