In September last year a Chinese automaker known as Hycan indicated that they had plans to enter the Malaysian market with three of its fully electric models– the Z03 SUV, A06 sedan and V09 MPV. These EV models were expected to make their debut by Q1 of this year, but since the indication there were no further developments from the automaker.
However, a recent post at paultan.org Facebook automotive discussion page revealed the Hycan models at an unknown location in Malaysia. This begs the question: is the automaker finally making preparations to debut in the local market?.
Coming to the scenes in Malaysia, it was reported by Paultan.org that a company known as Concept Fields was chosen as Hycan’s authorised distributor. They were tasked to manage the distributions and sales of the car as a right-hand drive (RHD) variant not only in Malaysia, but other regions as well.

Now coming back to the post that were shared, through the images, two of the Hycan models were spotted – the Z03 through its rear features and the A06 which can be identified through it front bumper design. However, there was no confirmation of the models being an RHD, thus there could be possibilities for these models to be brought for preview purposes.
The Z03 SUV is inspired from the GAC Aion Y Plus. The car measures 4,602 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,645 mm tall, with a 2,750 mm-long wheelbase. In China, the Z03 is offered in two trims, each featuring different power outputs. The base variant produces 183 PS (135 kW), while the higher-spec delivers 217 PS (160 kW). Despite the difference in power, both trims offer the same torque of 225 Nm.
As for the A06, it comes in multiple configurations, including front-wheel drive (FWD), which is offered in both standard and extended-range versions. There is also the dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) variant.
Both delivers the same 225Nm of torque. Although Hycan has yet to reveal the A06’s DC fast-charging specs, it claims the vehicle can be charged from 30% to 80% in just 36 minutes, regardless of the battery capacity.
As mentioned, Hycan may be preparing to debut in Malaysia soon. When it does, we will have more information about the models.
