The WhatsApp account of Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail was hacked on Monday by an “unidentified and irresponsible party”. The incident has prompted immediate investigation by the authorities.
According to an statement issued by the Office of the Home Minister’s official Facebook page, the breach has been reported to the relevant enforcement agencies for further action. The minister’s office expressed regret over the incident and condemned the act as a serious violation.
Members of the public are strongly advised to exercise caution and refrain from responding to any messages or calls purporting to be from Saifuddin Nasution. This is especially important in cases involving financial requests or meeting invitations, the post added. These could be attempts by fraudsters to exploit the situation.
The Home Minister’s office reminded the public not to fall victim to such scams and called on everyone to be more aware of potential fraud attempts through messaging platforms and social media. The statement also urged individuals to promptly report any suspicious activity or fraudulent communication to the authorities.
