ShopeePay and Zurich General Takaful have partnered to introduce Zurich Travel Takaful, a Shariah-compliant travel protection plan. The travel plan was conceived to meet a growing demand for Shariah-compliant protections, and caters to both short-term and frequent travellers, offering plans for single and annual trips.
Zurich Travel Takaful starts from RM3 per day for domestic travel, while for international travel the plan starts from RM15.99 per day. The plan provides coverage of up to RM300,000 in medical and personal accident benefits throughout the user’s travel.
Additionally, the plan offers compensation for travel cancellation, delay, and curtailment, as well as baggage delay, double indemnity, and personal effects and travel documents. Another benefit offered in the plan is access to Zurich’s 24-Hour Travel Assistance hotline, which provides customer support during travel.
Subscribing to the Zurich Travel Takaful takes just under three minutes through the ShopeePay app. First, the user must navigate to the “Insurance” tab at the bottom left of the app’s home page. The user must then click on the “Travel” section and select their desired plan before confirming their details and proceeding to checkout. As is the case with all insurance and takaful products on the ShopeePay and Shopee app, SPayLater is available for customers who wish to split their payments into installments.
