This one seems to have quietly flown under the radar. As it turns out, Dyson’s customisable OnTrac headphones have finally launched in Malaysia. According to staff at the brand’s experience store in The Gardens Mall, the headphones were released locally quite recently – albeit without much fanfare.
In case you missed the initial announcement, here’s a quick refresher. The OnTrac is Dyson’s second wearable audio product, introduced globally in July last year. Unlike the Zone, the company’s first foray into headphones, this model doesn’t come with a built-in air purifier. Instead, its standout feature is customisability – allowing users to swap out the ear pads and outer caps for parts in different colours, which are sold separately.
Audio-wise, the OnTrac is equipped with 40mm, 16-ohm neodymium drivers that deliver a frequency response of 6Hz to 21kHz. It also features active noise cancellation (ANC) powered by eight microphones that sample ambient sounds 384,000 times per second, capable of blocking up to 40dB of noise.
For battery, Dyson says the OnTrac is capable of delivering up to 55 hours of use with ANC activated, and features quick charging support. The headphones also come with a small joystick and a touch pad for playback and volume controls.
Those interested can try out the OnTrac for themselves at Dyson’s experience stores in Malaysia. It does cost a pretty penny, however, coming in at a whopping RM2,599. You can also purchase it online via the brand’s official web store.
Its customisable parts, though shown in-store, aren’t on sale just yet. Store staff say the coloured earpads and earcup covers are expected to arrive soon, with prices estimated at around RM200.
