An alleged key visual of what is believed to be the render of the yet-to-launch Sony WH-1000XM6 has been leaked, giving us a first look at the successor of 2022’s WH-1000XM5.
The leaked key visual was discovered on Reddit, where it is believed to have been posted first. The image is believed to have been picked out from the brand’s product roadmap, probably shared during an internal meeting earlier last month.
There are no specifications attached to the image but rumours have it that Sony could revert back to a foldable design with the WH-1000XM6. If true, the return of such a feature would prove enticing to the constant traveller, as it would mark a return to the compact design that ended with the WH-1000XM4.
Beyond that and in spite of its quality, the image suggests that the WH-1000XM6 may ship out with a thicker headband, as well as thicker foam rings around the earcups. Additionally, the yoke at the end of the earcups appears to be feature some form of metal – something the WH-1000XM5 didn’t have – hinting further at its potentially foldable nature.
At the time of writing, Sony hasn’t made any announcements regarding the WH-1000XM6.
