The iPhone 17 generation is currently slated to be getting a new addition in the form of a supposed Air model. There have been plenty of rumours about it already, months ahead of its scheduled launch. But analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has shared a predicted launch schedule for upcoming Apple phones up until the second half of 2027, which involves an iPhone 19 Air. This is also noted to be coming with a larger display than the model that came before.
That being said, the exact measurement of the screen size of the iPhone 19 Air (or Slim as Kuo refers to it as) was not shared. Instead, 9to5Mac points to an older Power On newsletter entry by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, which noted that Apple initially prototyped the iPhone 17 Air with a 6.9-inch screen to match the Pro Max model. The bitten fruit brand decided against it over fears of bending, but the report notes that it’s a size that the company may return to. In fact, the 6.9-inch size was part of an earlier leak as well, when the phones’ dimensions appeared online.

Said predicted schedule also corroborates prior reporting of Apple splitting its usual annual launch into a biannual one. It also includes an additional reasoning for the shift, in addition to more flexible product lines and not overshadowing the base model with the Pro ones. By splitting its releases, Kuo claims that it allows the company to compete in China, where many brand release new models within the first half. He also corroborates that the claim that doing so also not dilute marketing efforts across the range.
Of course, such plans are subject to change, assuming they are accurate predictions in the first place. Even more so when it’s regarding devices to be released two years from now. So while it may be exciting for some to see a phone that’s not only thin, but also coming with a massive screen, I wouldn’t recommend holding your breath for it.
