The GWM Tank 500 will be launched on 8 May during this year’s Malaysia Autoshow (MAS 2025), Paultan.org reports. As you may recall, the hybrid SUV was initially unveiled at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) last December, alongside the brand’s Wey 80 MPV.
To recap, the GWM Tank 500 is a seven-seater vehicle with a body frame measuring 4,928 mm (length), 1,934 mm (width), and 1,905 mm (height) with a 2,850 mm wheelbase. As for the powertrain, the it features a parallel hybrid system combining a 244 PS, 380 Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and an electric motor with an output of 106 PS. Together, it delivers 350 PS and 616 Nm of torque which is handled by a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The power is delivered to all four wheels, but at the same time, the Tank also has a feature known as a ‘Switchable four-wheel drive system’. The name may seem sophisticated, but all it means is that the vehicle can be driven in both four-wheel and two-wheel drive modes.
Inside, the GWM Tank 500 features an interior with Nappa leather seats, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 14.6-inch infotainment screen, as well as premium amenities such as triple-zone climate control and a panoramic sunroof. Moreover, power-folding third-row seats and cutting-edge safety features like blind spot monitoring, automated emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control show the practicality of the SUV.

Local pricing for the GWM Tank 500 is still anyone’s guess at this time. However, it is suggested that the SUV may be given a price tag of under RM350,000.
