This year’s edition of the Malaysia Auto Show is scheduled to happen in May as it usually does, but it looks like Chery may have a hybrid car to showcase during the event. This may come in the form of the Tiggo Cross, which may be known instead as the Tiggo 4 elsewhere.
Paul Tan reports that, as part of the brand’s vehicle launch plans for 2025, Chery intends to launch the Tiggo 4 in Malaysia next month. This was spotted as part of the company’s Super Hybrid Exploration Tour in the company’s headquarters in Wuhu, China.

Citing a local rep, the report notes that the hybrid will indeed by in Malaysia by then, with a few caveats. One is that it will be known as the Chery Tiggo Cross rather than Tiggo 4, and that it will be here for a preview rather than a launch. Worth noting though that a Tiggo 4 Pro got a preview back in 2022, though as per the report, it’s pretty clear that they are not the same cars.
From the report, the difference appear to be one in name only. With that, the report cites figures off the spec sheet of the Chery Tiggo 4, which includes a 1.5l naturally aspirated inline-four petrol engine with 97 hp and 118 Nm of torque. This is paired with a Direct Hybrid Transmission (DHT) that is an electronic CVT, with the hybrid part of the equation being two electric motors providing 201 hp and 310 Nm. These are powered by a 1.83 kWh battery.
