MyEG Services Bhd and MIMOS Technology Solutions Sdn Bhd launched the Malaysia Blockchain Infrastructure (MBI) yesterday on 29 April 2025, a national platform aimed at accelerating blockchain adoption across public and private sectors. The initiative is expected to strengthen Malaysia’s position in the regional digital economy.
Described as a “neutral and trusted platform,” MBI is built on MyEG’s Zetrix Layer-1 blockchain and connects with public blockchains such as Ethereum and Solana. According to MyEG, this cross-chain interoperability is offered through a unified interface, simplifying access to decentralised applications and blockchain-based services.
Zetrix serves as the core infrastructure for MBI, enabling blockchain identifiers, verifiable credentials and other Web3 components. The system is also built to support interoperability with China’s blockchain ecosystem, opening pathways for international blockchain integration.
MBI itself is designed to support key sectors including supply chain, digital identity, asset tokenisation, and decentralised finance. By eliminating the need to navigate multiple platforms, it lowers technical barriers and promotes broader participation in blockchain innovation.
MIMOS, a strategic agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, highlighted MBI’s role in fostering digital inclusivity and national competitiveness. “It makes blockchain technology accessible to all Malaysians, regardless of technical expertise,” said its acting president and CEO Dr Saat Shukri Embong.
Initial adopters of the platform include Masverse, Cokeeps, iTrace, and HeiTech Padu Bhd. These organisations are implementing blockchain solutions for use cases such as supply chain traceability, asset custody, and digital ID management.
On that note, MyEG says MBI will also support government-backed initiatives like MyDigitalID, enhancing capabilities in verifiability, accessibility and cross-border authentication. Its design allows for both simple and complex applications, ranging from event registration to secure identity verification.
