The Kuala Lumpur Tower (KL Tower) will reopen its doors to the public tomorrow on 26 April 2025, following a temporary closure that began earlier this month. The Ministry of Communications confirmed the reopening in a statement issued today, marking the completion of extensive maintenance and restoration works.
KL Tower was closed on 17 April after the government issued a temporary shutdown order to facilitate urgent restoration efforts. The work was undertaken under the supervision of the new operator, LSH Service Master Sdn Bhd, who assumed management of the tower in 2023.
The Ministry said the restoration efforts were comprehensive, focusing on both aesthetic upgrades and functional systems. Among the key maintenance tasks were repainting of surfaces, reinstallation of flagpoles, and upgrades to both the CCTV network and internal communication systems. Cleaning of the surrounding site was also carried out to improve overall visitor experience.
Other upgrades included the replacement of artificial grass on the terrace area, enhancements to the building’s electrical wiring and drainage infrastructure, as well as refurbishment of office spaces and the tower’s revolving restaurant. The glass dome located in the main lobby was also cleaned as part of the improvement works.
The tower’s temporary closure drew public attention, particularly following a directive issued by the Ministry of Communications. At the time, officials stressed the move was necessary due to safety concerns and to allow uninterrupted maintenance work. The ministry’s prior announcement also noted that KL Tower’s previous operations beyond 31 March by Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd’s (MKLSB) is deemed unlawful.
