Foodpanda has announced its decision to cease operations in Thailand, effective 23 May 2025. The move marks the end of the company’s efforts to compete in the country’s highly saturated food delivery sector.
The announcement was made earlier today on 23 April 2025 through Foodpanda Thailand’s official social media platforms. In the message, the company noted that the current market dynamics in the country no longer align with its broader strategic objectives. It also thanked its customers, restaurant partners, and delivery riders for their support over the years.
According to Thailand’s The Nation, Foodpanda’s parent company Delivery Hero confirmed the closure, attributing the decision to a strategic reallocation of resources. The company added that this aligns with its prior exits from other challenging markets such as Denmark and Slovakia.
Delivery Hero says it plans to redirect its focus to other Asia Pacific countries where it sees stronger prospects for growth and profitability. Despite the service shutdown, the regional support team based in Thailand will continue operating to support other markets in the region.

Reports suggest the company’s financial performance in Thailand had been under pressure for years. While revenues saw increases during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly as demand for food delivery surged, the company continued to post significant losses. Although recent cost-cutting measures had begun to show some improvement, they were ultimately insufficient to sustain operations in the long term.
