Sennheiser has released yet another pair of open-back high-end headphones in Malaysia called the HD 550. Just like the HD 505, it offers a wired open-back setup, but with more powerful gear as well as the same acoustic mesh design with swappable cables and earpads, both for longevity and the option to add an in-line microphone, the latter of which it lacks.
The HD 550 features custom 38mm transducers at 150 ohms, making it ideal for a hi-fi setup. Moreover, the company states that the transducers cover a wider frequency range of 6 to 39,500Hz with less than 0.2% harmonic distortion. The angled arrangement also provides a more expansive soundstage, giving gamers a lag-free experience.
Weighting at only 237g, the headphones are fitted with a more relaxed clamping force compared to the other models in the 500 series for increased comfort. In the box, it ships with a 1.8m cabled with a stereo 3.5mm jack as well as a 6.35mm adapter.
The Sennheiser HD 550 gets a retail price of RM1,499 and is listed on both the brand’s official website and Shopee store. However, it should be noted that as of writing, the headphones are temporarily out of stock.
