Sennheiser has quietly released one of its latest pairs of open-back headphones, the HD 505, in Malaysia. Marketed towards audiophiles, these wired headphones supposedly offer a spacious soundstage and punchy bass.
The HD 505 are fitted with custom 120-ohm transducers, which the brand claims allows the headphones to cover a frequency range of 12 to 38,500Hz with less than 0.2% distortion. The angled transducers apparently also mimic near-field loudspeakers for a more expansive soundstage.

As previously mentioned, it is a wired device, so it comes with a detachable 1.8m cable with a standard 3.5mm plug and an included 6.3mm adapter. The headband is wrapped in synthetic leather while the entire thing weighs just 237g. As for repairability, the ear cushions can actually be swapped out so it can last longer. With the cable being detachable, you can swap it out with one that has an in-line microphone.

The Sennheiser HD 505 is available now at RM1,399 through the brand’s official website as well as its Shopee store. It is currently only available in a single copper colourway and it comes with a two-year warranty.
