Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has proposed to the cabinet to consider implementing Work from Home (WFH) and home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) arrangements during this year’s ASEAN Summits. Two are scheduled for later this year, one in May and another October. This news comes after the farewell ceremony of Chinese President Xi Jinping, which took place earlier today.
President Xi Jinping was in Malaysia for three days for a state visit, from 15 to 17 April. During this time, many roads in Klang Valley and Putrajaya faced closures, while the roads to KLIA 2 were made temporarily inaccessible. Due to this, many road users had to find alternate routes and faced heavy traffic jams, or consider other forms of transport.
Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan also apologised for the issues faced by commuters during the road closures. Bernama notes that, despite the purpose of the road closures being to ensure smooth logistics and security, many complaints were still voiced by road users caught in heavy traffic. With this new proposal being in consideration, it is hoped that these issues will not be faced by road users again once the ASEAN Summit rolls around.
