Mazda has revealed the official images of the EZ-60 ahead of its premiere unveiling at Auto Shanghai on 23 April 2025. The production version of the car is based on last year’s Arata concept, and from the official images, it’s safe to say it will turn heads.

This is the second electric vehicle developed by Mazda’s Chinese partner Changan, following the EZ-6. It is therefore expected that the EZ-60 will also be built on the same EPA platform as the Deepal LO7, S05, and S07.

Given the shared platform, the car’s specifications are anticipated to be similar to the aforementioned models. For comparison, the EZ-6’s rear motor generates 258PS (190kW) and 320Nm of torque, powered by a 68.8kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, delivering a WLTP-rated range of 479km. The Long Range variant produces slightly less power at 245PS (180kW) but is equipped with a larger 80kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery, offering a claimed range of 552km.

In terms of design, the official images suggest the Mazda EZ-60 bears more resemblance to a Mazda 3 hatchback than a crossover. It features a sleek, low-slung glasshouse and crisp lines layered over sensuous surfacing. Mazda’s signature Kodo design language is evident, with an illuminated blanked-off grille linking narrow daytime running lights, while the main headlights are positioned beneath an aggressive X-shaped front bumper.

From the side, the tall bonnet, black roof, flush pop-out door handles, and large two-tone petal-like alloy wheels dominate the look. At the rear, L-shaped taillight graphics have been reduced to a thin slit, placed above spaced-out Mazda lettering that also appears on the side skirts.

The design incorporates flow-through elements for aerodynamic efficiency, such as an air inlet within the upper edge of the grille and thick flying buttress C-pillars. Additionally, the EZ-60 replaces traditional mirrors with side-view cameras.

According to Mazda, these design choices help reduce the car’s drag coefficient and optimise battery cooling, thereby improving performance and range. The car is finished in a distinctive gloss purple paint, a nod to the Arata concept, which featured a matte version of the hue. As for the interior, no images have been released yet.

Just like the 6e, the EZ-60 will be exported to Europe and Southeast Asia under a new name. Mazda has reportedly trademarked the CX-6e designation, which refers to both the 6e and the Japanese automaker’s popular CX SUV lineup. The company has yet to confirm when it will eventually arrive to other markets.
