While Sony may be renowned as a consumer audio brand thanks to its WF-1000XM5 earbuds, it does have a more budget friendly option in the WF-C700N that costs less than half of the flagships. Now, the budget ANC earbuds have gotten an update, in the form of the WF-710N.
Probably the most important improvement that Sony has given the sequel is the use of dual mics for both ANC and ambient mode. There’s also the inclusion of AI Noise Reduction, as well as a claimed battery life of 8.5 hours, which is an hour more than before. And you can add an additional two hours if you keep ANC off. With the case, you get up to 30 hours with ANC, and 40 without.
A change that you may or may not like with the Sony WF-C710N is that it has gone for touch controls in lieu of button operation of its predecessor. Definitely an improvement though is wear detection, so you don’t have to manually pause what you’re currently playing when you take them off.
The Sony WF-C710N is listed in four colourways – Black, White, Pink and the very pretty and translucent Glass Blue. What’s surprising, and in a good way, is that it has a lower asking price than its predecessor, at RM499. No availability yet for the local market, but for what it’s worth, the company’s US site lists estimated shipping times as between 31 March and 1 April.
