Modders Found A Way To Implement AMD FSR4 Into DLSS2, XeSS Games

You will require an RDNA4 GPU to pull this off, though.

NVIDIA currently has DLSS4, while AMD recently launched its latest iteration of FidelityFX Super Resolution technology, FSR4. The problem with AMD’s upscaling tech, though, is that at current, it isn’t as widely implemented in a whole lot of games.

For some modders, the absence or rather, lack of FSR4 just isn’t good enough and have taken matters into their own hands. To that end, they’ve found a way to inject the upscaling technology into games that absolutely promotes the use of ray tracing and upscaling, all through a single tool.

YouTube video

The tool is known as an Optiscaler and it basically enables support for FSR2, FSR3, FSR4, and XeSS in games that already support NVIDIA’s DLSS technology, and vice versa. To provide an example, the modders showed off the fruits of their labour with a demonstration of Cyberpunk 2077 with FSR4 running.

Stating the obvious here, the upscaling technology isn’t officially supported so even when it is active, it still only registers as FSR3. Having said that, the results are actually noticeable. With the upscaler set to Performance, there is a lot more retention of detail, less flickering, and less noise overall.

There is a catch to using FSR4 though. In order for it to work, you will need an RDNA4 GPU and the only ones available are AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 Series graphics cards,. We’ve already reviewed the 9070 XT and you can read our review of it if you wish to learn about its performance. If you do have one of the new Radeon GPUs, you can give the Optiscaler tool a try. We’ll just leave it in the source below.
