Tune Protect has announced a new perk for its AirAsia Travel Insurance plans called the Delay Lounge Pass. The pass offers customers of one of its insurance plans access to over 1,500 airport lounges worldwide when their flight is belayed by at least two hours, although there is a catch.
The Delay Lounge Pass is exclusively available for insurance customers under the Value Pack, Premium Flex, or AirAsia Plus plans. Moreover, the pass is only applicable for flights departing from or arriving in Malaysia and Thailand.
How it works is that once you purchase the insurance together with your flight ticket, you must register your flight via a lounge registration email. Once registered, Tune Protect will track the flight through FlightStats and if it detects that your flight has been delayed by two hours or more, you will automatically receive a voucher for lounge access.
Aside from access to airport lounges, the insurance plans also provide RM100 when a flight is delayed more than two hours. You can also get reimbursed up to RM500 for cancellations due to involuntary termination from your current employment and natural disasters, as well as RM120 for every six hours your baggage is delayed, capped at RM360.
