The Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia launched the Sustainability Achieved Via Energy Efficiency (SAVE) 4.0 initiative yesterday on 10 December 2023. As announced by Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, consumers who purchase energy-efficient appliances such as air conditioners and refrigerators with four- or five-star labels issued by the Energy Commission under this programme will be granted with up to RM400 rebate.

A total of RM50 million have been allocated for the initiative through the Electricity Supplies Industry Trust Account, and the rebates will be offered until the allocation is used up on a first-come-first-serve basis. The minister added that Malaysians who are domestic electricity account owners registered with utility companies can enjoy the SAVE 4.0 rebate, which is limited to one account for every purchase of certified air conditioners and refrigerators.

Program SAVE 4.0 telah dilancarkan oleh YB Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Menteri Sumber Asli, Alam Sekitar dan Perubahan Iklim (NRECC) di tapak reruai NRECC di Program Setahun Bersama Kerajaan MADANI di Pekarangan Stadium Bukit Jalil hari ini.

Consumers can apply and obtain the rebate by bringing an updated electricity bill upon purchasing these appliances at any electrical shop or shopping mall registered with the programme. Alternatively, they can also get e-rebates for online purchases on accredited e-commerce platforms including Lazada, Shopee, PGMall, Youbeli and TIkTok Shop.

The initiative follows up on last year’s SAVE 3.0 programme by SEDA Malaysia, which also offered rebates for purchases of energy-efficient electrical appliances. According to the statutory body, SAVE 4.0’s implementation period has been set for one year, starting December 2023 until December 2024. Consumers who wish to learn about this initiative can visit SEDA Malaysia’s official website for more information.
