Homeworld 3 and its February 2024 launch is just around the corner, and there is a healthy level of anticipation for the game, especially among RTS fans. Recently, the studio developing the game, Blackbird Studio, released the system requirements for it as we have to say, it’s a pretty tall order, even by today’s hardware standards.
Firstly, Homeworld 3 will take up 40GB of space across the board, which is a relief, given how big other games tend to be. That being said, the minimum hardware it requires to run the game includes 12GB RAM, either an Intel Core i5-8600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, an NVIDIA GTX 1060, Intel ARC A380, or AMD Radeon RX 480. This, by the way, is for its lowest settings.
On the opposite end of the hardware spectrum, if you’re looking make full use of that gorgeous 4K monitor you just bought to play Homeworld 3, you’re going to need 16GB RAM, either a Core i7-13700K or a Ryzen 9 7900X, and a card with at least 12GB of graphics memory, meaning either and RTX 3080 or Radeon RX 6900 XT.
But this is the age of ray-tracing and AI upscaling, which means that we get to use that old “But wait, there’s more” phrase. If your system even has a hope in heck of running Homeworld 3 with all the bells and whistles afforded by ray-tracing, you’re going to need an RTX 3060 or Radeon RX 6650 XT as GPU. And that will just get you through the door for Full HD gaming.
To play Homeworld 3 with ray-tracing on, at 4K resolution, the necessary hardware listed by Blackbird Interactive states that your system needs to be rocking either a Core i9-14900K or Ryzen 9 7950X3D, and a choice between an RTX 4080 or Radeon 7900 XTX. That is an insane requirement to run an RTS game, especially given
