Local cinema chain TGV Cinemas has launched its newest outlet in Pavilion Bukit Jalil. The brand dubs this new location as one  “with a more innovative, energetic and engaging environment to enhance the movie-going experience”. Also part of the claim is that this is the first cinema in the country featuring IMAX with Laser Systems and 12-Channel Sound Technology.

The key distinction here is the whole combination though. As the claim for first cinema to feature just IMAX with Laser Systems but without the 12-channel sound tech, this goes to the GSC outlet in IOI City Mall, Putrajaya.

Beyond its flagship feature, the TGV Cinemas outlet in Pavilion Bukit Jalil consists of 16 halls and 1,555 seats in total. Of them, three are classified as Indulge halls for a more premium movie-watching experience. Another two are considered Beanie halls, where the seats are replaced with beanbag pods instead. Overall, it sounds somewhat like the experience with the GSC Aurum Theatre.

Before you get into the movie halls, you’ll be greeted by a floor-to-ceiling LED screen showing visitors movie-related content. You also get free WiFi throughout the cinema, but this will likely only be used while you are queuing for popcorn. As an aside, you can also catch Marvel Studios’ The Marvels in IMAX, which premieres tomorrow, 9 November 2023, here at TGV Cinemas in Pavilion Bukit Jalil.
