Nothing has unveiled an all-new black colour option for its Ear (2) TWS earbuds, which are also confirmed to be releasing in Malaysia later this month. However, it will first be offered as limited exclusive via Crossover Mid Valley from 15 July onwards, before becoming more widely available across the country starting 22 July onwards.

Obviously, the only new thing about this version of the earbuds is its black colour theme, while everything else remains exactly the same as the original. To recap, the Nothing Ear (2) features a triple-shot injection process that moulds the earbud materials simultaneously, enabling for a more secure and IP54 weather resistant build. Its accompanying charging case, on the other hand, is now smaller and lighter than its predecessor, and has a water and dust resistance rating of IP55.

As for internals, the Nothing Ear (2) is equipped with 11.6 mm drivers and a new diaphragm unit that’s made of graphene and polyurethane materials. Another feature not found on the previous model is its ability to support LHDC (Low Latency High Definition Audio Codec) 5.0 audio delivery for wireless Hi-Res audio streaming, and new touch controls that lets you control playback and so on by pinching either side’s stem.

The earbuds’ onboard ANC has also been improved, where it is now capable of suppressing external sounds at up to 40 dB. On top of that, the Nothing Ear (2) comes with a new personalised sound profile feature that lets you calibrate it to your specific hearing after taking a quick test via the Nothing X companion app.

Battery-wise, the Nothing’s second generation earbuds are rated to provide up to 6.3 hours of playback with ANC off on a single charge, and a total of 36 hours when used together with its case. The company claims that a quick top-up of just 10 minutes via USB-C will provide the case with enough juice for eight hours of listening time. And like its predecessor, the buds’ accompanying case also comes with wireless charging support, which is now rated at 2.5 W.

In terms of pricing, you’ll be glad to know that the newer black colour option of the Ear (2) retains at RM599. As mentioned earlier, this particular version will be sold first via Crossover Mid Valley as a limited drop starting 15 July, while its wider availability across Malaysia will commence from 22 July onwards via Nothing’s official store on Shopee and Lazada, as well as authorised retailers both online and offline.
