Twitter’s dashboard app, Tweetdeck, has been experiencing major issues thanks to the platform’s recent change. With the new restriction that limits the number of posts users could view daily, which isn’t too friendly with its onboard auto refresh functionality, thus causing it to not show any tweets – rendering the tool to become nearly useless.

In light of this, Twitter has announced that it is rolling out a new version of Tweetdeck in order to address this issue, which will also include several new features. According to the platform’s most recent update via its Support account, this newer release will retain all of your saved searches, list and columns through an import prompt when you load the app for the first time. On top of that, Tweetdeck will now feature full composer functionality, Spaces, video docking, polls and more, though its Teams functionality has been taken offline. In regards to the latter, Twitter promises to restore it in “the coming weeks.”

Improvements and new features aside, Twitter’s announcement regarding the updated Tweetdeck also carried some bad news. As noted by the social media company, its dashboard app will only be accessible by Verified users in 30 days time. In other words, you’ll need to be subscribed to Twitter Blue next month if you wish to continue using it. For those who’ve missed it, the platform’s premium subscription will cost you RM35 per month or RM369 per year.

Undoubtedly, this upcoming change won’t sit well with those who’ve been using Tweetdeck since the early days when it debuted as a free, independent dashboard app for Twitter. That being said, this isn’t the first time that many have predicted its eventual transition to a premium-only feature, with suspicions already arising as early as 2011 when the tool was acquired by the social media giant.
