NVIDIA has officially broken its silence with its entry-level GeForce RTX 40 Series card, the RTX 4060 Series. The GPU brand is launching not one, but three variations of the card.
To be precise, NVIDIA is introducing two variations of the RTX 4060 Ti – one with 8GB GDDR6 and another with 16GB GDDR6 graphics memory. The third SKU is the non-Ti RTX 4060, which only comes in one configuration, and that is with 8GB GDDR6 graphics memory. As you can see, these cards are also the first set of Ada Lovelace GPUs to be based on the lesser GDDR6 memory standard.
Starting with the RTX 4060 Ti, the GPU is a direct replacement to the previous generation RTX 3060 Ti. Again, as it is with all RTX 40 Series GPUs, the card is equipped with 3rd generation RT Core, 4th generation Tensor cores, and above all else, access to NVIDIA’s AI upscaling technology, DLSS 3.
The RTX 4060 Ti also supports the AVI encoder but more importantly, it also has a significantly larger L2 Cache of 32MB versus the paltry 4MB L2 Cache of the RTX 3060 Ti. On another note, the card also boasts the improved power efficiency of the Ada Lovelace architecture with a TGP of 160W, compared to the 200W of its Ampere counterpart.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB will be available from 24 May onwards with a starting price of US$399 (~RM1810), while the 16GB model will be made available at a later date in July this year and will retail at a starting SRP of US$499 (~RM2263).
As for the RTX 4060, the non-Ti model is similar in specifications, albeit with few cores on all fronts. It still comes with 8GB GDDR6 graphics memory but a much smaller 24MB L2 Cache, although that is also still considerably larger than the 3MB L2 Cache of the RTX 3060. On paper, it also has a TGP of 115W.
As for when the RTX 4060 will be available, the card will be coming available at the same time as the 16GB version of the RTX 4060 Ti, which is in July. No official pricing has been announced for it yet, although NVIDIA did suggest that the card may retail for US$299 (~RM1356), but don’t take our word for it.
